Colorado National Speedway Designs 2010 - 2017

Aside from designing posters and program covers, I lent a hand in designing (and installing) racing designs for sponsored race cars, at Colorado National Speedway, in Dacono, CO.

Each car had a specific design and feel, year after year. For each style of car, there was a separate color scheme and theme, dependent on the driver's personality.

For the first year, though, it was decided to unify all categories of cars, and present a team-oriented aesthetic.

The designs were created using Adobe Illustrator for the plain car templates, sourced from online profile line drawings. They were cleaned up, line-corrected and sent to Adobe Photoshop for coloring and design.

The designs were measured and formatted, using Adobe Illustrator.

Using our 60" plotter, we printed onto adhesive-backed vinyl paper, and laminated.

From there, we retained the Illustrator file of the designs and used the stroke lines for precision cutting on a vinyl cutter.

We then took the measured data and transferred all application positions to the physical car.

From the same designs and photos of the finished car, we also created "Hero Cards" for each driver, to be signed at all racing events.

The Hero Cards were created using Adobe Photoshop, from elements pre-created from Illustrator, and official NASCAR imagery. Layouts were finalized on Quark, for printing.

In all, over 20 separate cars (and their designs) were created and installed over the years.

The Colorado National Speedway sponsored race cars were a popular feature, attracting new fans for the next ten years.
